Isadora smackle girl meets worlf12/29/2023 Girl Meets World is meant for a young audience just as Boy Meets World was, similar in comparison to Full House and it's reboot. However, this is for a new generation, and those who watch it should not be turned off of it by comparing it too quickly to long time favorites bathed in nostalgia (although nostalgia this show has, as it brings back old characters all the time in fun, surprising ways). Fans like myself of the old Boy Meets World I expect will be pleasantly surprised by how faithfully it follows in it's predecessor's footsteps. In an age where we expect our drama to be dark and gritty and our humor to be clever and punchy always, it is nice to see something that doesn't take itself too seriously, and can be appreciated for that. Although some might find the show a bit melodramatic and the humor a bit too silly, it is a good show not despite of this, but because of it. The show tackles serious subject matter as well as sharing in a few giggles,(although subscribing to the usual bouts of in your face humor, it rarely comes off as obnoxious and doesn't overuse its laugh track, especially considering its filmed in front of a live studio audience, and the laughter and other reactions by the audience seem genuine). Although occasionally shoe-horning in it's central message for each episode (take the pilot for example- if you were to create a drinking game just for how many times they drive home the word "world" you'd be plastered by the end of the half hour), the show doesn't fail in sharing truly good messages for young and old as well as giving you the warm fuzzies. While the style of this show has the new Disney stamp on it, what differs from it is that it does in fact have substance. The new Disney is far too trendy for me, trying to hard to be all style and no substance- except the style is pretty terrible too. The humor is not as slapstick as the normal Disney fair- something I usually greet with distaste.
